day 7 - 5/21/08start - rocky canyon campgroundend -beaver dam workcentermileage- 32 milesDefinitely the coldest night so far of the trip and we also got some rain! I didn't know that any excess moisture was present in this part of the world, but I guess it does it exist. The onset of rain in the middle of the night forced me out of my sleeping bag in a naked daze to find my clothes and then gather all the gear I left out in the open. I think I found about everything. Time to drink that coffee surprise from last night and try not to get to wet in the continuing rain. It seems to be just a light sprinkle now- hopefully it doesn't get worse and it also warms up a little bit, we shall see. Well the day progressed nicely. We started out with some rather hellacious climbs. Two of them back to back- but we made it over them and found a sweet place to sit for lunch. All day it has been rather cold and threatening rain, We move on another 8 miles after lunch to a ranger station at beaver dam workcenter and was told that a huge storm was coming in, so we decided to call it an early day at 5pm and relaxed for a few hours before catching a good night of sleep. Tomorrow we should head out pretty early to knock out 50 miles or so. The Pie Town, NM in 2 days to eat some delicious, you guessed it- pie! Stewie out.
