Start - Del Norte
End - en route to Tulsa

We've started our 5 day hiatus from the trail to spend some time with my family in Tulsa, OK. The rest will be nice for the body and mind. Today we started out from Del Norte hitch hiking east to try to make it to Pueblo, CO. We made it to Alamosa, CO, got stuck in the middle of town with rainy conditions, and found a greyhound bus station. They've got a bus going to Pueblo that will hopefully arrive in time for us to make the connection to Tulsa. It's going to be one long day of traveling- probably about 17 hrs of bus time. And the bus system sucks in the USA. I got extremely spoiled by the bus system in South America- with fully reclining seats, meals, movies.... But the greyhound seems to be rather bare bones. So I've packed my remaining trail food- peanut butter, bars, tortillas- not the most appetizing of food, but it does save me some money. So we're waiting at the bus station of Alamosa now- which is essentially the front room of someone's house. Rather small. So that's the word.
Hopefully we'll be arriving in Tulsa tomorrow around 12 pm and then 2.5 days of hanging out with fam and eating some awesome food. Then back to the trail by Monday. Back to reading, and eating clif bars, rock on.
After arriving in Alamosa, CO around 11 am following two rides with ranchers, I currently find myself sitting on a nonmoving greyhound bus at 10:30 pm- yes....still in Alamosa. I don't really know quite how this occurred in my life, but here's the skinny. The bus taking us to Pueblo for our 8:30 pm connection was running over 3 hours late. The drivers had to change buses; however, it turns out that the new bus driver does not know how to drive a manual bus. So he gets into the bus, kills the engine- and then
the bus starts freaking out. Everyone has been waiting around forever and tempers are "boiling" to say the least. But it definitely looks like we're not going to make our 8:45pm bus out of Pueblo. Funny, I thought that paying for a ride to Pueblo was more sure than hitch hiking, but it seems to not be the case, so I guess hitching will just have to be on the agenda from now on.So we received news that a new bus will be sent from Alberqurque, but it won't be getting here until the morning- not good. The holds of greyhound are tightening their grips on my little soul. Run for your life! The worker told us there is a bus leaving at 2:35 am from Pueblo, so we still could make it Tulsa by 7pm tomorrow. But first we had to get to Pueblo- but how to do this at 11 pm?? Hitch hiking! more to come.....
