Day 11 - 5/26/08
Start - Pie Town, NMEnd - about 10 miles outside of Grants, NMMileage
We kicked it out of Pie Town around 8 am this morning after some stellar cereal with a banana and green tea. Feeling fresh and rejuvenate, we pedaled our way north followed by a very gracious tail wind. The first 35 miles were covered in no time, and then turned into wind for 3 miles to reach the Crater Backcountry Byway in the Malpais Forest. We were rather shocked that we had entered back into the desert. No shade, water....I'm just happy the road wasn't wet, because it would've gotten nasty like the last few days. We're making great time for the day and am now sitting at a touristy trap known as the Bandera Ice Caves- but luckily I was able to obtain agrapefruit juice with a red apple. Not too shabby. We're moving on another 15 miles or so tonight so we can get into Grants, NM for breakfast tomorrow. Oh yeah- I'm feeling a pecan chocolate chip waffle, withgrits, omelette, and an orange juice. Sounds likes I'll be dreaming of Waffle House tonight. Laterz.
