Day 30 - 6/14/08
Start - Salida, COEnd - Elkhorn Rd
Mileage - ~55 miles
Took a nice relaxing morning in Salida- mailing postcards, sitting at the coffee shop, reading books. We got out of there around 11am or so, but still managed to do a little over 50 miles. Not too bad. We had a pretty nice climb out of Salida, with some spectacular views of the valley to the west. The rest of the day was spent in the rolling hills with nothing too stimulating. But we made it to Hartsel, had a little snack and I called some shops in Breckenridge. Good news- we're not going to bypass Boreas pass around 11,480 feet. They said it should be clear to ride. So I'm praying for no more snow/mud wars. Tonight we're sleeping on the side of the road- not a great area, but at least it's above freezing. Tomorrow we've got about 55 miles to get into Silverthorne. On the way we pass through Breckenridge- these are truly some awesome areas of the USA. Mark's got a friend to stay with in Silverthorne, so I'm seeing a shower in my future! Gotta go finish Catcher in the Rye so !I can buy a new book tomorrow. Stewie checking out.
